The Making of Harry Potter | Warner Bros. Studios

* If you're planning on going to the Warner Bros. Studios and do not want to see anything before you go - stop reading now! *

In true fashion when Tom and I take a trip somewhere, I like to write a post about it to not only look back on myself, but to also recommend a new place for you to go to. Tom and I usually go away for a short break for our anniversary and this year was no different. We spent a while thinking about where we wanted to go/what we wanted to do, but in the end we settled on going to the Warner Bros. Studios to have a look around. We went back in 2014, but since then they've added the forbidden forest and the train, and so we thought it was worth a visit to see these and to revisit the other sets!

I will just say if you're thinking about going, to have a look online at the available dates (you have to buy your tickets in advance) and book that first. I speak from personal experience as I'd booked the time off work, I booked our hotel, and then I went to book our tickets to discover that the whole of February was sold out. I was lucky to get tickets as I knew that if people can no longer make a date, rather than give them a refund they are able to move their date/time, so after days of checking at different intervals I was able to find two tickets for the day that we wanted (if I had not been able to get tickets we still would have gone away for the weekend but would have had to of found something else to do with our time!).

I drove us down after Tom finished work on the Friday - it was an alright drive just a bit boring to be on the motorway for 3 hours! - and on our first night we stayed just off the M25 and on our second night we stayed off the M1 (the first hotel doubled in price for the Saturday night and so we went to a different one which was actually better than the first). During the day on Saturday we went to St.Albans which was nice but it was absolutely chucking it down with rain so we were glad when it was time to go to the Studios! When you book your tickets you book a tour time, which is essentially just an entry time as once you're inside you can spend as long as you like walking round - we were in there for about 2 1/2 hours. Last time we paid for the digital guide, but this time we decided not to as we wanted to enjoy the experience together rather than listening to the guide. There's lots of information around too so it's not a big loss if you do not get the digital guide. I thought I'd share a few photos with you so you can see what it's like!

We enjoyed going round the Studios again - the train was my favourite - and they're definitely worth going to if you're a fan and want to have a look behind the scenes. There are opportunities to do things like sit on a broomstick in front of a green screen or pretend to sit in the flying Ford Anglia, which are great but we missed these out this time as they cost extra and to be honest there's lots of photo opportunities with the sets so I don't feel like we missed out on anything by not doing it. I know people return time after time for a visit, but I think we would only go back again if there were new exhibitions to see as it is really informative and you learn a lot about what went into making the films and the 'magic' behind it. I hope if you're unable to get to the Studios that this provided a little insight into what it's like and that it may inspire you to visit one day!
