Fortnightly Catch Up #12

Hello there! It's time for another fortnightly catch up, which means that in the time between this and the last one all of my first assessments have been handed in hoorah! I've been able to relax a bit more and enjoy my free time again. I can't believe that the next fortnightly catch up will be the Sunday before Christmas! I know I say it a lot, but this year really has gone so quickly.
Tom and I went on a double date with Lucy and Josh to play mini golf at Paradise Island. This is now the 3rd time that I've been, and I can't really say that I'm getting any better! We all had lots of fun, and somehow Lucy scored 5 holes-in-one, even though she said that she 'wasn't very good'. After the mini golf, which Lucy and Josh won, we went to Frankie & Benny's for a drink and some garlic bread. It was lovely to spend some time with them all and have a catch up before Christmas.

Last weekend I took a long overdue trip to London to visit Kirstie at uni. Being at St Pancras train station I had to take a photo as it's an iconic Harry Potter place! (Although it's meant to be Kings Cross that Harry leaves from, it's actually filmed at St Pancras which is just across the road). After going to Prezzos for lunch, we made our way into the centre. I should have expected it, but the centre was so busy! It was crazy how many people there were about. We took a trip to Harrods (not to buy anything but to see the Christmas lights!) and decided to walk to Oxford Street. On the way we popped into Winter Wonderland, (which is where the man statue with the bird was) which I had never been to before. I enjoyed visiting it, but I think it would be better if you lived closer so that you could spend the afternoon or evening there!
After Winter Wonderland we made our way to Oxford Street to have a look around the shops. We didn't really buy anything which was in part due to the volume of people, but we both had a lovely time regardless. On making it back to Kirstie's flat we had our tea and spent the evening watching films! I had a lovely weekend with Kirstie, and going to London makes me want to go back more often.

December is now here and so of course I got out my advent calendar and put my festive duvet covers on my bed. We also decorated our uni house tree, and I think it looks really good! One of my favourite things to do is decorate the tree, as I love being able to turn the lights on at night as it instantly makes the room that much cosier.
On Friday Tom and I went to Meadowhall to do a bit of Christmas shopping, and mid way we stopped off at Starbucks where I got a Gingerbread Latte. We managed to get a lot of gifts, so it was a productive trip! I've got two secret santa exchanges coming up with this week so I'm excited to see how they react to the gifts I bought them.
Today Tom and I took a trip with the union to Chatsworth, and there'll be a detailed blogpost coming up about this soon! Despite the cold and slightly wet weather, we had a lovely trip, and I've just tucked into a pie that I bought from the farm shop and it was so yummy!
I'm excited for the next fortnight as there's a lot of Christmas related activities coming up! I can't believe that I only have two weeks left of the autumn semester though. Being so busy this semester has meant that the time has gone even quicker, and pretty soon I'll only have one semester left of my degree which is exciting but scary!
What have you been up to recently? Have you got anything planned over the next few weeks that you are looking forward to?

Love Jess xxx

  1. Went Christmas shopping in Norwich today, stopped at Pattiseire Valerie for cake and banana milk shake. It was very busy but enjoyed the trip as Lucy came with me. Looking forward to another trip back to Norwich later in the week for a meal out with friends xxxx
